New Video Tutorial: Easy DIY Key Fobs

key fobAbout 5 years ago I made myself a key fob like this from thick felt fabric. It lasted really well and it actually still looks really good. But I wanted something new and wanted to use some of my favourite fabrics this time around.

And I thought I’d make it into a video tutorial, hoping that you’d enjoy making one or more of these as well: https://youtu.be/oU0fBLYOI24

It is such a fun, easy and quick project.

I’d love to see some pics of your creations in the Sami Facebook group, if you’d like to share a picture: https://www.facebook.com/groups/496284950388111/

Happy sewing!

Happy Valentine’s Day! May the Star Babies be your Valentine?

HTML tutorialI just realized that I missed to add the head circumference for the Star Babies. Head circumference is always a very personal thing depending on your personal sense of aesthetics. When making dolls, a smaller head in relation to the body represents an older child, while a bigger head in proportion to the body represents a smaller child.

Here are the approximate measurements for the 7″ and 10″ Star Babies:
The circumference of the head for the 7” Star Baby should be about 6” (15.2 cm).
The circumference of the head for the 10” Star Baby should be about 8.5” (21.5 cm).

I have added the measurements to the eBook now.
If you would like to make your own, here is the link to the pattern: https://samidolls.com/en/product/star-baby/

As a little Gift and Thank you on this special day, here is a Coupon Code for 25% off any single item: VALENTINE.

Have a wonderful day!

Where to buy all the supplies to make a Sami Doll?

Alright, I’ve purchased your pattern. But where do I get the materials to make a doll?

I think the question I get asked the most is where to buy all the supplies to make a Sami Doll. I made a video with all the links to the shops that I frequently shop at a wfair while ago, but some of the links are outdated by now and the video is probably so far down on my channel that it was well overdue to make a new one.

I have also been working on a new page for my website with a list of links to all the supplies you will need to make a Sami Doll. Here it is: https://samidolls.com/en/supplies/. I also made a quick video introducing the new page: https://youtu.be/rIl-yZl1PIY
It will make life so much easier for you and for me to have this page. You and me will be able to just take a look at the page and get all the supplies we need and I can link to this page from now on. Win win. It took me a fair while to put together, but it is so worth it.

If you can think of any other online shops or tips where you purchase your doll making supplies, I would love to hear from you, so I can update the page. Thank you so much.

Have a wonderful day!

How to receive your PDF patterns after checking out

Have you had a successful checking out experience on the new website yet?

It was a long drawn out decision to say goodbye to Etsy and start over on my own website with everything Sami Dolls in one place.
I love the community on Etsy, I love the unique offers and variety of handmade items on Etsy, I love the exposure on Etsy and it was a bit scary to me to say goodbye to all this community support and start off on my own on my own website.

But I really wanted to create a user friendly experience for you, a one stop shop for everything Sami Dolls.
Many of you have already taken advantage of the free pattern downloads, the video tutorials on the website, the ‘contact’ form (Thank you to all your sweet messages!) and the easy downloads directly from the website after checkout. No more complicated links to click or waiting around for emails. You can download the patterns immediately on the website after checkout. But let’s have a closer look at the 3 options you can use to receive your patterns.

Over the last few weeks I have received quite a few emails about people wondering how the new website works and how to receive your order after checking out. A lot of you have already checked out successfully and hopefully enjoyed working with the Sami patterns.

To make things easy for you, thought I’d make a quick video and message about how fun and easy it is to check out on the new website.
For those of you who prepare to watch a quick video with screen recordings of me demonstrating how to access your patterns, click here: https://youtu.be/eYDC7WkEP_s

And here are the 3 options:

  1. Immediately after checking out via Paypal or Credit Card, you are redirected to the website and can see your patterns with links ready to download the patterns. You can click directly on the download link and it will automatically start the download to your device, or you can right click on the link (on a computer) and choose the folder you want the pattern to download to.
  2. After checking out you will receive an email to the address you entered during checking out and can access your downloads via the links in the email. Clicking on the link will start the download to your device automatically.
  3. If you create an account on the Sami Website (free, no strings attached), you can access all your past purchases in one place and re-download all your patterns as many times as you’d like.

I hope this was helpful and will make the pattern shopping experience a fun one 🙂

I’ll see you very soon with the new free pattern for February!

Have a wonderful day!

Happy new Year and a new Freebie of the month! (January 2017)

Hammock

Happy new Year 2017!

I hope you had a wonderful start to the new year. I celebrated with good friends in the countryside far far away from all city noise and fire works. I kind of missed the fireworks, so we tried driving up a very steep mountain to have a look at the fireworks in the city, but we could not see any. I might have to watch some recordings of the New Year celebrations online somewhere haha.

And now it’s time for another Freebie of the Month!

For January 2017 the free pattern is a doll hammock. I hope you will like it.
I am not only using these to have a comfy hangout place for the dolls, but also to store craft supplies, haha.

You can download the pattern in the Sami Facebook group and if you do not have Facebook, download them HERE.
And the video tutorial is here.

As always, feel free to send me your requests, suggestions and feedback to theresa [at]samidolls[dot]com

I hope you are having a wonderful day,

My favourite Holidays window décor

My favourite Holiday window décor!

I just uploaded a video in which I am showing how I am making an 8 and a 16 pointed Tissue Paper Star for my window.

These stars remind me of my childhood in Germany. We used to bake Christmas Cookies and folded these stars to adorn our winterly windows.
Are you going to make one too!?

Here is the video tutorial for the 8 pointed star, which is a bit easier: https://youtu.be/H-uLFRFTtI0

And here is the one for the 16 pointed one: http://bit.ly/2i4ORMJ

During the holidays I’ll be working on re-filming the crochet shoe tutorials, as I received feedback, that it is a bit hard to see what I am doing in the video, due to bad lighting conditions and not enough contrast between yarn and background.

Until then…

Happy Holidays!
