On the 4th of December we went to the Belle Bazaar Markets with our little stall.

The dolls came with for the first time.

A lot of people looked at them, took them in their arms and dropped them a bit terrified when they looked at the prices.

The how and why of the costs are explained in the FAQ section.

 Any “hardcore waldorf doll admirer” will know that my dolls are in the lower price range of dolls available out there.

I chatted to some lovely people, sold a few things and Miss A. had a great time playing with the market stall holder and visitor kids, getting her face painted, eating poffertjes and feeding the farm animals.

 The bassinette hadd to come as well!

I also took my www.samu.com.au goodies with me.

Turtles, horses, dolphins and elephants.

 These 4 were born on the 1st of December 2011.

I first made all the bodies in the days before and on the 1st they got the hair and their clothes. So this is officially their birthday 🙂

 After visiting the library I saw this beautiful wooden bassinette across the road at St. Vinnies. I simply had to have it!
So I brought it home and Lucy and Sami love it!!!

 Over the following few days a few more dolls were made.
The brown ones are a bit more chubby due to the fabric being very stretchy.
Looks cute, I find.

 Here they all sit in the new bassinette having a chat.

 These 3 were born on the 27th of November:

WENDY, a 16″ doll

 MIA, 15″.

CYNTHIA, 16″.

This is Sami.
She was born on the 21st of November 2011.
She gave the name to Sami’s dolls.

When I was shopping I found this adorable jumper and pants in Size 0000. It almost fits.

Right after she was born we took her on a day trip to Stradbroke Island, QLD.

This is the place my husband and I got married 2 years ago and for our second anniversary we wanted to experience the beauty and wildness of the island again.

 We took the ferry from Cleveland in the morning and Sami sat in the life saver. Great view up there.

 A bit of a rest on mummas lap.

 The captain was friendly enough to show her the way 🙂

And then she sat in the tree at the creek.

 The wind and breeze over the cliffs was amazing.
We saw some dolphins and a big turtle in the water too.

 The finale at Brown Lake, the most wonderful lake in the world (according to us).

This is Annika.
My daughter wanted a sister.
Miss A. has a black african father, so her baby sister had to have brown skin 🙂
She was born on the 21st November 2011.
She got dressed in a hat and dress with adorable turtle print.

After seeing the adorable dolls of pages like Bamboletta, Little Jenny Wren Dolls and Janea’s World on facebook and constantly falling in love with the little handmade friends, the crafty woman in me simply HAD to have a go at one of these darling dolls myself.

I remembered the time I used to play with my Waldorf Doll Sophia, made by my mother. I loved her.
I remember never seeing the actual process of dollmaking, since the Waldorf Doll books recommend that the child should not see the separate “body parts” of a doll, but only the whole and finished doll itself.

I started looking for online tutorials and found some very wonderful pages:

I especially like the funky and happy look of the Bamboletta Dolls. Here is the flickr page with all their wonderful dolls.

Soooo…. after a lot of research, long nights sitting in front of the computer and a visit to my “local” Spotlight store, and after having purchased a waldorf doll tutorial on Etsy, I got started.
Oh, what a joy it was to see it all coming together.

A little friend was born. On the 20th of November 2011. Lucy her name.
Miss A. my 7 year old daughter wanted her to smile (classic Waldorf dolls do not really have a strong facial expression, so that during play the child can imagine any emotional expression), so she took her Stockmar wax crayon and

painted my (HANDMADE OVER 20 OR MORE HOURS!!!!)  doll a big smile in the face. Ough!

I can tell you, I wasn’t happy and I showed it.
Now Miss A. does not like the doll anymore, because she thinks of me looking at her dumbstruck and horrified.
She of course only had the best intentions.  She always only wants to be helpful and me to be happy.
So after a few minutes I calmed down and decided that Lucy had played with lipstick, therefore the face 🙂

She is and always will be my first ever handmade waldorf inspired doll and I love her.
And due to this strong memory we will never forget her Birthday 🙂
